Project ESABALT

The first ESABALT(Enhanced Situational Awareness to Improve Maritime Safety in the Baltic) project meeting was held in FGI, Masala near Helsinki on September 26th. The project is performed by partners from Finland Sweden and Poland.

IMO's Sub-committee on Safety of Navigation, Communication, Search and Rescue held its first session in London between 30.06 - 4.07.2014. The new sub-committee is a merger of the NAV Sub-committee on Safety of Navigation and the COMSAR Sub-committee on Communication and Search and Rescue.

The Maritime University of Szczecin was awarded the title of Business & Science Cooperation Leader. The award was granted by the Marshall of the West Pomeranian region during the 10th Forum of Self-governments as a token of recognition of effective and business-oriented investment and research undertaken by the University.

Green Cities 2014 – an unprecedented conference in Poland

Between 19th – 20th May 2014 a scientific international conference Green Cities 2014- Green Logistics for Greener Cities was held in Szczecin. It was devoted to urban logistics with particular emphasis on issues connected with environmental protection and reducing negative effects of urban transport of goods on the environment.

Sustainable Transport Development Day at the Faculty of Economics and Engineering of Transport

Lecture delivered by Prof. Russel G. Thompson from the University of Melbourne
Sustainable Transport Development Day was held at the Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Transport on 22nd May. Its purpose was to familiarize students with basic issues concerning the idea of sustainable transport and demonstrate the necessity of appropriate measures in that scope.

University Celebrations and Reunion of the year 1974 graduates of the Maritime University of Szczecin

This year’s program of University Celebrations was accompanied by the 40th anniversary of graduation of the first Alumni of the Maritime University from 1974. About 30 graduates, both from Poland and abroad, arrived to their Alma Mater. Vice-Minister of Infrastructure and Development, Mrs Dorota Pyć, attended the ceremony.

Simulator-based Centre for Marine Pilots Training

Maritime University of Szczecin is planning to open the first in Poland Simulator-based Centre for Marine Pilots Training. The University has already signed a respective Letter of intent with the company Szczecin Pilot Sp. z o.o. The Centre will be a certified facility for training marine pilots and running courses in the area of port safety.
