On the 16th May 2014 the RIS-Odra Centre was officially launched during an opening ceremony attended by Prof Dorota Pyć -Vice-Minister of Infrastructure and Development, Mr Marek Talasiewicz – Voivode of the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship and Mr Wojciech Dróżdż - Vice-Marshal of Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship.
RIS stands for River Information System and is a system of harmonised information services supporting transport and traffic management in inland navigation.
Launching the Centre is closely related to implementation of the Directive of the European Parliament and Council No 2005/44/EC of 7th September 2005 on harmonised river information services (RIS) on inland waterways in the Community (Dz.U. L255/152 of 30th September 2005). The project “Pilot implementation of RIS for lower Odra river”, managed by Prof. Andrzej Stateczny, constituted an attempt of putting provisions of the above Directive into action.
Further information on the project can be found on the project website and on the website of the Hydrogeo research team (tab: Projekty / information in Polish language only).
