The Publishing House reviews (in terms of editorial issues), publishes and distributes scientific, educational and informative publications such as Scientific Journals, scientific works (monographs, habilitation theses), conference materials, textbooks, materials for lectures and exercises, methodological guides, specialist dictionaries, information materials as well as other University publications.

The Scientific Publishing House is an organizational unit of the Maritime University of Szczecin and it has editorial and publishing functions. It is located in the organisational division of the Deputy Rector for Science, who supervises administrational and financial activity. The editor-in-chief is in charge of the Scientific Publishing House. The editorial staff of the publishing house constantly ensures a high level of content and editorial quality of the publications.

The Publishing House of the MU is a member of the Stowarzyszenie Wydawców Szkół Wyższych (Higher Education Institution Publishers Association), which integrates all Polish university publishing houses. It participates in exhibitions of Polish scientific books as well as in trade market events (e.g. in Poznań Days of a Scientific Book), where it presents and distributes scientific works of the MU workers.

The Publishing House publishes the university magazine “Akademickie Aktualności Morskie”  ensuring that it is properly edited and published regularly.

Scientific Journals of the Maritime University of Szczecin

Scientific Journals of the Maritime University of Szczecin (ISSN 1733-8670) have been published since February 1973 (ISSN 0209-2069), and since 2008 with a new design and format (A4). Many of the articles are related to the maritime economy. The subject matter is being expanded to include, among other things, nautical issues, problems of ship operation and ship’s power plant operations. The materials prepared for symposia and conferences are also published in Scientific Journals, as well as post-doctoral and doctoral work.

In 2004, the Scientific Journals of Szczecin changed the ISSN from 0209-2069 to 1733-8670 as a result of MUS changing its name to  Akademia Morska w Szczecinie (Pol) and Maritime University of Szczecin (Eng). By the end of 2021, 138 issues of SJ were already published.

All the articles are reviewed and academically edited. Their thematic coverage is in accordance with academic issues of the University and the fields of study.
