Workshops at the Centre for Marine Hydromechanics of CTO SA in Gdansk

On May 11, 2012 a group of second-year students of the field of navigation, members of the Scientific Society METACENT, took part in workshops held at the Centre for Marine Hydromechanics of CTO SA in Gdansk. During the workshops, students had the opportunity to get acquainted with techniques and devices used in ship models and the current activities of the Centre, including employment and internship or practice opportunities.

Maritime University of Szczecin in IMO

On 30 April - 4 May 2012 in London 43rd meeting of the Subcommittee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for watch officers training (STW) was held. The director of the Institute of Marine Technology, Janusz Uriasz, participated in the work of the Subcommittee, representing the Polish delegation.

OSRB Kolobrzeg - before the reconstruction
In 2012 began the second stage to create OSRB in Kolobrzeg, the project carried out by Prof. Wojciech Ślączka , Master Mariner- Vice-Rector for Maritime Affairs. In 1st Phase the construction was completed, followed by the final acceptance of the building and the permission to operate the facility. The works carried out included the complete reconstruction and adjustment of the building for the MUS didactic needs. The university received 1027 m² of floor space containing modern technical infrastructure, including 76.1 m² of net laboratory.

The use of LCHS simulator

A year after the project "Construction of LNG Terminal Simulation Centre and Cargo Simulator for the ship carriage of liquid cargo in the Maritime University of Szczecin" made by the Vice Rector for Maritime Affairs Prof. Wojciech Ślączka, Master Mariner under the Regional Operational Program for the West Pomeranian Province for 2007-2013, Priority 7, Measure 7.1.1 Action 7.1.1 "Educational infrastructure - higher education," Simulation Center LNG project pursues the main objective of developing both maritime and onshore human resources with unique qualifications in line with the needs of maritime economy.

Opening of a computer simulator lab for testing and service of hydraulic systems

On 27 March 2012 at the Faculty of Marine Engineering Maritime University was officially opened a computer lab simulator for tests and service of hydraulic systems. The inauguration was honored with the presence of the Rector, Chancellor and the Dean of the FME of the University of Szczecin. The newly opened modern laboratory contains 8 computer workstations equipped with software Automation Studio by Famic Canadian Company.

Computerized future ships

Can a ship sail without a crew? Is it possible to remotely control a ship and use automated systems based on fuzzy logic and neural networks to drive a floating unit? –here are the information technologies of the future of the Maritime University of Szczecin. Unidentified object ... at the bottom

Baltic Sea - still unrecognized with unidentified objects at the bottom. Strange elevations and depressions at the bottom… What can be hidden under a layer of gravel and sand of the sea? This question can answer Multi-beam sonar for hydrographic measurements, the latest arrival of Navigator XXI. Echo sounder with equipment represents the latest research position to build a prototype of a multi-layered electronic map of marine areas.
