On 30 April - 4 May 2012 in London 43rd meeting of the Subcommittee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for watch officers training (STW) was held. The director of the Institute of Marine Technology, Janusz Uriasz, participated in the work of the Subcommittee, representing the Polish delegation.
At the meeting of the subcommittee the Maritime University of Szczecin (Bak A., Kwiecińska B., Uriasz J.) together with the Maritime University of Gdynia and Polish Naval Academy reported on the document STW 43/3/19 for amendments concerning the design of the IMO model course ECDIS.
The document was presented at the plenary session by the Director Uriasz and further at a meeting of the group that develops a model course. Very many provisions of the Polish proposal became a part of the final version of the model ECDIS course.
This is a very successful Polish and our University achievement, which will be used in the development of maritime training centers around the world.
