Young scientists from the Maritime University of Szczecin – winners of the competition ‘Internship- Success of a Researcher’
Witold Kazimierz, PhD, from the Department of Geoinformatics came first (in a tie), and Piotr Borkowski, PhD, Maritime Institute of Technology, in third place in the competition for funding under the project Internship- Success of a Researcher. ‘Internship- Success of a Researcher’ is funded by the EU project whose goal is to support the cooperation between scientific institutions and enterprises by enabling scientists to have their internship in selected companies. The executor of the project and the organizer of the competition is Poznan Academic Business Incubator (PAIP), and the project is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
International Conference on Information Ships ISIS 2011, Hamburg
From 30-31.08.2012, in Hamburg, International Conference on Information Ships ISIS 2011 was held. The conference was organized by the German Institute of Navigation (DGON) and attended by 75 representatives of research centers, universities, government and industry maritime shipping industry of the IT industry sector around the world.
Improving safety at sea and wind energy development - new projects of the Maritime University of Szczecin
Due to the support of EU funds from the Regional Operational Program of the West Pomeranian Province for 2007-2013 at the Maritime University of Szczecin, investments will enable research in the area of vessels operational risk - Centre for Science and Research Risk Analysis and Operation of Ships as well as in the field of energy produced from renewable energy sources - Green Energy laboratory.

Memel cleaned of ghost nets
More than 1100 kg nets lost by fishermen called ghost nets, were removed from the wreck of m/s Memel as a result of the action carried out by WWF Poland in cooperation with the Maritime University of Szczecin as well as the fishermen and divers.

Trainees of the Maritime University of Szczecin gain first professional experience in Szczecin companies
This year, during summer holidays, from July 2 to October 1, 19 trainees or students and MUS graduates take their first professional steps in 11 Szczecin reputable companies. Internships are implemented by the Careers Office of MUS on the basis of the project ‘Development and promotion of the engineering sciences at the Maritime University.’

The innovative system NAVDEC presented at the IMO
On 2-6.07.2012 in London took place the 58th session of the Subcommittee on Navigation Safety (NAV) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The session was attended by the Polish delegation consisting of the Navigational Faculty staff members: Professor Zbigniew Pietrzykowski and Witold Kazimierski, PhD, where they presented NAVDEC, an innovative navigation system for decision support on a seagoing vessel, developed at the Maritime University of Szczecin.

World Hydrography Day
The Chair of Geoinformatics on behalf of the Navy Hydrographic Office, Maritime Office in Szczecin, Szczecin City Hall and the Association of Polish Maritime hydrographers is pleased to invite to the World Hydrography Day, which will be held on 23-24 June 2012 at Wały Chrobrego.During the World Hydrography Day Maritime University unit - Hydrograph XXI and its equipment, inter alia, hydrographic sonar probe will be presented. Rowing Launches Regatta at the Maritime University
