About the University structure and governance
The Maritime University of Szczecin (MUS) is a state-financed and state-run higher education institution supervised by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Ministry of Science and Higher Education. MUS is composed of 5 Faculties, divided into smaller units (institutes, chairs and departments).
The head of the University is Rector - an eminent figure elected for 4 years. The Rector has 4 deputies nominated for 4 years, responsible for a particular field: Vice-Rector for Science, Vice-Rector for Education, Vice-Rector for Maritime Affairs, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Development.
The Chancellor is employed on a contract basis and his/her responsibility includes planning, staff and equality policy. The Bursar, employed on a contract basis, presides over the finances, accounting and resources.
