It’s still a month before the new academic year begins, but we have already welcomed 34 future students of the Maritime University of Szczecin coming e.g. from Ukraine and Belarus. They will begin their stay in Szczecin with a course in the Polish language.
It will last from 30th August to 22nd September. The language course, except for preparation to an examination in Polish, also enables the students to get acquainted with the culture of the Poland and the region. The activities which bring Polish culture closer to the participants include e.g. sightseeing of the city.
The course finishes with the examination on 23rd September, which is compulsory for all foreign students (although participation in the course is not obligatory).
Students from abroad may also take part in the special “Welcome to Poland” programme – a project where volunteers – older students support their new colleagues during their first weeks in a new place. They are especially helpful in dealing with official matters and are also a priceless repository of knowledge as regards the written and unwritten students’ laws at the Maritime University.
