The ranking list of projects co-financed in the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020 was published on 12 March 2018.
Three railway investments in the Provinces of Lower Silesia, Pomerania and West Pomerania are to receive almost 609 million Polish zlotys. Out of the above mentioned total amount, the project entitled: “Construction of the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway with the Use of the Existing Sections of Railway Lines no. 406, 273 and 351” filed by the Szczecin Metropolitan Area Association will be co-financed with the amount of PLN 512 213 858.92.
The significant fact is that employees of the Faculty of Economics and Engineering of Transport of the Maritime University of Szczecin have taken an active part in preparation of the assumptions and documentation of the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway. The co-author of “The Szczecin Metropolitan Railway Concept” developed in 2012 is Krystian Pietrzak, PhD. Eng. In the period 2014 -2015, Oliwia Pietrzak, PhD. Eng. and Krystian Pietrzak, PhD. Eng. participated in preparation of the Feasibility Study for the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway project and, in the years 2016 – 2017, they took part in its updating.
The construction of the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway is to finish in 2022.
