For two years Maritime University of Szczecin, Faculty of Marine Engineering offers scholarships to 1,000 PLN to the best students, money for college scholarships raised from the Human Capital Operational Program. The aim is one - to popularize the technical fields of study and increase the number of their graduates. It is the technical graduates that are now sought after and valued in the labor market specialists in the areas they represent.
What are the current effects of the introduction of the scholarship program? Better than expected! It is enough to say that this year’s recruitment was the best for over 10 years. 217 people for regular full-time studies including 162 in the direction of Mechanical Engineering and 55 in the direction of Mechatronics, which was created in 2010, with EU money, were accepted. For comparison, in 2009 before the introduction of the ordered courses at the University the Faculty of Marine Engineering accepted only 85 people.
In the academic year 2011/2012 first and second year students of the Faculty of Marine Engineering will receive a total of 124 scholarships of 1000 PLN per month. For those in need of additional support in mathematics and physics was prepared free individual tutoring. The best will leave for overseas internships and benefit from specialized trainings. For those who persevere to the end and defend their BSc thesis, getting the diploma of an engineer, well paid jobs are waiting at sea or land.
Although the recruitment of students has already ben completed the students enrolled at other universities may still apply for a transfer to the Faculty of MUS. However, the decision should be taken by early October.
