The Maritime University of Szczecin obtained a positive recommendation for conducting dynamic positioning (DP) trainings following a re-accreditation visit of the Nautical Institute (NI) representatives from London from 4 to 5 April (re-accreditation letter received on 19 April).

The success was possible owing to adjustment of the DP bridge simulator in the Marine Traffic Engineering Centre at the Faculty of Navigation to the NI technical standards updated in 2015. Modernisation of the simulator was carried out, as a whole, by the employees of the Marine Traffic Engineering Centre: Rafał Gralak, PhD, Eng., Mateusz Bilewski, MSc., Bartosza Muczyńskiego, MSc. under the supervision of Paweł Zalewski, PhD, Eng., Chief Officer, Professor of the Maritime University. This included a proprietary vision system (of the vessel and its surroundings) designed and built, for the first time, solely by employees of the Maritime University. The Nautical Institute approved the Marine Officers’ Training Centre administration and instructors for conducting of trainings: Romuald Chastas SDPO, Roman Piłat SDPO, Piotr Milewski SDPO and Marek Urbański SDPO. The syllabus of dynamic positioning operator trainings at the Maritime University of Szczecin as well as students’ publications (for course participants) as well as instructors’ ones are prepared and reviewed on a regular basis in accordance with the NI guidelines by Paweł Zalewski, PhD, Eng., Chief Officer, after consultations with DP instructors.
