The visit of Asian academics took place as part of the Melbu project co-financed by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme.
What is the MELBU project?
The Melbu project brings together universities from Germany, Poland and Bangladesh. It is aimed at creating a supportive environment that facilitates the growth and sustainability of start-ups in the Khulna province in Bangladesh by providing training and guidance to students and young entrepreneurs at the start of their business path. Various activities are provided, including entrepreneurship summer schools, short-term courses and crowdfunding training. The project is coordinated by the University of Leipzig.Universities participating in Melbu project

Bangladesh delegation busy visit to Szczecin
At the Maritime University of Szczecin, academics from Bangladesh were welcomed on 24 October by PM Vice-Rector for Innovation and Development Janusz Uriasz and project coordinator Dr Eng. Piotr Wołejsza, and had a tour of the LNG Shipping Technology Centre and the Centre for Marine Traffic Engineering.During the following days, delegates from Bangladesh attended a number of events including a presentation about the iSOLMET programme which was given at the MUS Faculty of Economics and Transport Engineering (FETE). The project enhances 'soft skills' among maritime staff by developing innovative teaching methods based on case study analysis. The guests also toured the MUS Main Library, which is located at the FETE building, and were introduced to library's access system to book and electronic publications.
On October 26th, in the MUS Hall of Tradition, a partnership agreement was signed between the Maritime University of Szczecin represented by Rector Wojciech Ślączka and the Khulna University, represented by Prof. Noor Un Nabi. The cooperation will include the exchange of students and university staff.
The Bangladeshi academics also visited - guided by Grzegorz Wilento from the MUS Department of Foreign Languages - Szczecin's tourist attractions, including the Philharmonic building and the Museum of Technology and Public Transport. They also had a tour of Szczecin's start-up incubator Technopark Pomerania, which provides young entrepreneurs with the support and resources they find difficult to reach otherwise.
Several panel discussions and entrepreneurship courses were also organised by MUS, where our guests presented their own projects.
