This is another great success of the choir conducted by Sylvia Fabiańczyk-Makuch, PhD. The leading position in the most important and most prestigious choral competition in the country ranks our team among the greatest choirs in Poland.

On May 25.2013, the Artistic Council qualified for the final auditions only ten of the best choirs from around the country including: Chamber Choir of the Academy of Music in Gdansk, Warsaw University Choir, Chamber Choir Kantorei Sankt Barbara of Krakow, The Zabrze Resonance Choir Con Tutti, Academic Choir of the Silesian University of Technology and the Cantabile Girls’ Choir from Olsztyn.

Choir of the Maritime University consisting of 50 singers presented five songs diverse in terms of style and character (two contemporary religious compositions, Negro spiritual song, folk song, and an impressive maritime work ‘Sailors Song’ by Tadeusz Szeligowski). International, eight-person jury chaired by Prof. Krzysztof Szydzisz appreciated the technical skills, musicality, vocal development, an interesting choice of repertoire and the overall presentation of the Szczecin team.

The 1st place in the Legnica Cantat tournament is a beautiful culmination of the 10th anniversary of the band. In celebration of the anniversary there will be two gala concerts at the Szczecin Philharmonic scheduled for November 2013.
