On 31.05.2010 in the Senate Hall of the Maritime University of Szczecin, a solemn consolidation of the sports academic year 2009/2010 was held. At the meeting, organized by the Board of the Student Sports Club and the Center of Sport and Physical Education, Vice-Rector for Education, Przemyslaw Rajewski, PhD, Chief Eng, thanked students and their coaches for their contribution to the development of the University sports. The Rector acknowledged that it had been a busy year with numerous cups and medals won at school, city, provincial and all-Poland sporting events proving high level of the Maritime University sports, and students who manage to find time for trainings being the pride of the University.

At the meeting all sections could boast of their achievements-more or less prestigious-nevertheless, they all found the meeting with the Rector a real distinction.
The basketball section won Szczecin vice-championship of the university league (their coach-Artur Lipecki, MA).
The volleyball section became the champion of the Amateur Volleyball League without even a single defeat (the coach Norbert Marchewka, MA).

  • Our futsal team won the third position out of 11 teams participating in the Szczecin tournament (the coach Artur Jankowiak, MA).
  • The judo section advanced to the finals of University Championships of Poland.
  • Weight triathlon section can pride with two silver medal winners: Sebastian Kołsut i Patryk Trocki, while the section as a whole occupied the 5th position (the coach Wojciech Jaśkiewicz, MA).
  • Rowing ergo-meter section, most numerous group of medal holders, can pride with the gold medal of Michał Klukowski, silver one of Dominik Górecki, bronze one of Karol Jaworski, as well as the medals for the type of the university, the 1st position of the male crew and the 3rd position of the female crew according to the university type and the 3rd place of the male team in the general classification of the University Championships of Poland (the coach Wojciech Jaśkiewicz, MA).
  • This year the Rowing section occupied the 5th place at the University Championships, competing with professionals. In the Szczecin competition, both the steady University crew and the novices turned out unrivalled, winning all the cups (the coach Wojciech Jaśkiewicz, MA).

The meeting was featured by its friendly atmosphere and Mr Jaskiewicz, MA was given a standing ovation when handed in a prize by Rector Rajewski. All the meeting attendants got motivated to put themselves through the mill starting from October so that the next year wouldn’t be any worse than the previous one.
This year we are having another sports event „Szalupiada” (rowing boat races), taking place at OSRM at Ludowa str on 12.06.2010 at 9.30. Our Sharks will have a chance to do their best.
