April 15, 2011, the Maritime University of Szczecin and the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture have signed a contract for the project entitled "Launching the Baltic Fisheries Training Centre in Kolobrzeg as a modern training tool." Project implemented by the University is co-financed by the European Union under the European Fisheries Fund.
The project manager responsible for the supervision and control over the correctness of the operations building, equipment and running the center as well as the author of the concept of its construction is Prof. Wojciech Ślączka century.
The main objective of the project is to develop and create modern training methods and tools, allowing the professional skills of those involved in the fisheries sector.
Thanks to the project the Baltic Sea Fishery Training Centre in Kolobrzeg will become a modern training tool meeting the requirements of a number of conventions, including the STCW-F Convention, SOLAS, SAR, MARPOL.
- Provide opportunity to improve professional skills to workers in the fisheries sector, pursuant to international conventions, including the STCW-F, SOLAS, MARPOL, SAR, ILO,
- Provide opportunity to gain knowledge about new methods, techniques and gear,
- allow to acquire practical skills in the rescue and saving lives and property at sea through the exercises on the waterfront and the training ground under the new standards from the provisions of derived from world (IMO) and European (EMSA);
- be modern and comprehensive - with a specialist educational infrastructure - offering integrated and specialist trainings;
- retraining for people who want to make it possible to associate professionally with fisheries and leave the fishery to land and other sectors of the sea.
It will consist of a teaching center and a training ground for practical classes along with the waterfront.
