In the laudation speech the Executive Director of the EuroAfrica Shipping Lines, Jacek Wiśniewski, stressed the merits of our university in the education of young people - excellent teaching staff, professionally prepared path of student development and the educational offer tailored to the needs of the labor market. He also appreciated the effective raising funds from the EU, thanks to which the university is developing dynamically, investing in modern research and teaching facilities and launching new training centers - including recently opened Baltic Fisheries Training Centre in Kolobrzeg. ‘Maritime University is the pride of our city and region’ summed up president Wiśniewski ‘It is a great honor for us’ - said Prof. Stanisław Gucma, Master Mariner, Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin. – ‘We are all pleased with the distinction; it is the success of our entire university. We all consider ourselves the inhabitants of Szczecin and are willing to work for the development of the city and the entire region’.

Seahorse Prize has been awarded since 2006 to entities - entrepreneurs, companies that are not afraid of bold investments and for many years consistently have developed their business, as well as to the West Pomeranian municipalities supporting entrepreneurship.

Among the winners of this year’s award are also the town and district of Gryfino, Polish Entrepreneurs Foundation and the Department of Water and Sewage in Szczecin.
