On January 13,at the monument "To those who did not return from the sea" at the Central Cemetery in Szczecin, a ceremony commemorating the twentieth anniversary of the sinking of the ferry Jan Heveliusz.
The disaster near the German island of Rügen killed 55 people: 35 passengers and 20 crew members. A tribute to the victims of the crash was completed by reading the roll call of the fallen, prayer and laying the wreaths. During the ceremony, a monument was unveiled in the shape of a double bollard on a mylonite pedestal commemorating the victims of 1993.
The ceremony was honored by the participation of Maritime University Company of Honor under the leadership of Andrzej Krysiak, ensign sergeant. The Company accompanied by the color guards of: Maritime University of Szczecin, Euroafrica Shipping Lines, Polish Steamship Company and the Senior Marine Mechanics.
