The purpose of the meeting was to present subject area of the project, its main goals and objectives and the results of pilot studies.

The meeting initiated by the Dean, Stanislaw Iwan, PhD, was attended by high representatives of government, business and science, considering jointly the negative effects of urban freight transport.

Among almost fifty participants of the meeting was also Ewa-Trzebiatowska Zmuda, Member of Parliament.

The planned series of meetings is a strategic part of the European project C-LIEGE (clean transportation management and logistics of the last mile for the sake of wise and efficient local government in Europe), aimed at engaging the dialogue and focusing on the problem of urban transport on the local level. Four meetings to be held in Szczecin will be aimed at developing a mutual understanding of public and private partners in the long-term strategies for clean urban environment.

The origins of the initiative began in 2010, when 17 organizations of both public and private representatives from 11 EU countries put forward the idea of facing European cities and their inhabitants. This concept has been recognized under the Intelligent Energy Europe. Szczecin was chosen as one of the seven cities apart from Leicester (UK), Newcastle (United Kingdom), Parma (Italy), Stuttgart (Germany), Birzebbuga (Malta) and Montana (Bulgaria), to conduct a pilot program. The project will develop a framework for the establishment of integrated planning and management of energy-efficient urban freight (Urban Freight Transport - UFT).

The main purpose of the meeting in Szczecin was to draw attention to the problems of urban freight transport issues, a presentation of a C-Liege and closer relations between stakeholders.
