Significant co-financing for the New Horizons project from the National Centre for Research and Development for the Maritime University of Szczecin. "The Cheque" for almost 7 million Polish zlotys was handed over by Jarosław Gowin, the Minister of Science and Higher Education visiting Szczecin.
The co-financing was received from the Minister by the Rectors of Szczecin Universities during a meeting at the Pomeranian Medical University. The grant for the Maritime University of Szczecin was received personally by the Rector Wojciech Ślączka.
The project of MUS obtained financing in the competition within the operational Programme Knowledge Education Development (in Polish: POWER) as a part of action 3.5 called: Complex programmes of higher education institutions. The project budget is worth almost 7 million Polish zlotys and includes 100 items.
The activities to be undertaken are connected with education, development and improvement of students and staff’s competences as well as extension of the IT system used for virtual management of the university. This is the first large undertaking in this area carried out by the Maritime University of Szczecin. The most significant plans of the project include support for establishment of new fields of study: Naval Architecture and Geoinformatics.
The project is to be carried out in the period from 1st September 2018 to 31st July 2022. The substantive scope of the project includes 8 tasks, each of which could constitute a separate project.
