Unia Europejska

Four representatives of the Maritime University of Szczecin joined the Working Group whose task will be to facilitate awarding financial support from the European Union.

The financial support from EU funds – as a part of the operational programmes for the years 2014-2020 – may only be allocated to projects relating to National Smart Specialisations (NSS). “Smart Specialisations” are newly defined thematic areas with the highest scientific and economic potential.

The Ministry of Development began recruitment for 20 NSS Working Groups. They will include representatives of scientific facilities, enterprises, institutions from business environment, associations, clusters and employer organisations.

In July this year, the Ministry of Development approved the members of the National Smart Specialisations Working Group for maritime technology innovations within the scope of specialised vessels, off-shore and on-shore structures as well as logistics based on sea and inland water transport (NSS 20).

The group of experts included the following people.:

  • Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin, Wojciech Ślączka, PhD, Eng., Master Mariner, Professor of MUS,
  • Piotr Wołejsza, PhD, Eng. from the Institute of Geoinformatics, President of Sup4Nav Sp. z o.o., representing the spin-out of the Maritime University of Szczecin,
  • Rafał Malujda, the patent attorney of MUS and the specialist from the Centre for Maritime Technology Transfer, representing the West Pomeranian ICT Cluster Association,
  • Konrad Frontczak, President of Centrum Innowacji Akademii Morskiej w Szczecinie sp. z o.o. (the Innovation Centre of MUS)

The Working Groups are groups of experts comprising specialists from whole Poland. They are established for technical support in evaluation of applications for financing. Based on the criteria developed by these groups, it will be possible to verify whether a given enterprise applying for financial support fulfils the criteria of NSS.
