Maritime University of Szczecin starts cooperation with Latvian Maritime Academy in Riga and is launching a new specialty of Maritime Studies Management 'MariMan' (management of maritime affairs in enterprises).
Three semester extramural Master degree studies are conducted entirely in English and intended for engineers who already have professional experience in the marine industry. In particular, the offer is for seafarers who want to gain qualifications to work in management positions on land. The study program involves mandatory student mobility - both classes are taught in Szczecin, as well as in Riga. Graduate study “MariMan” will receive diplomas from two universities and gain new qualifications providing greater opportunities to find work in the maritime economy. The studies allow you to gain practical experience - in the course of study managerial apprenticeship in a company related to the maritime industry is required.
Launching of the “MariMan” studies is planned for February 2012.
This is the first such study at our universities - both maritime universities set up a consortium in this case - October 4 consortium agreement concerning MariMan will be signed by: Prof. Stanislaw Gucma, Master Mariner - Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin and Prof. Janis Berzins - Rector of the Maritime Academy of Latvia.
