On October 1, 2025, the Maritime University of Szczecin launches the Faculty of Geoengineering and Environmental Protection – the sixth faculty within the university’s structure.

The new faculty addresses the growing educational and research needs in geoengineering, hydrography, and environmental protection.

The Faculty of Geoengineering and Environmental Protection (FGEP) consists of three departments; a fourth one will be added on October 1, 2026.
| Witold Kazimierski, DSc, Eng., MUS Professor, has been appointed as the Dean of the new faculty.
On September 30, in the presence of MUS Vice-Rectors Agnieszka Dei, Izabela Bodus-Olkowska, Artur Bejger, and Chancellor Andrzej Durajczyk, the dean’s nomination was presented by MUS Rector Wojciech Ślączka. The new Dean is an experienced researcher, educator, and specialist in geodesy, hydrography, and geospatial information systems.
The Faculty of Geoengineering and Environmental Protection (FGEP) consists of three departments; a fourth one will be added on October 1, 2026.
The faculty will offer two degree programs
- Geodesy, Surveying and Cartography - undergraduate level
- Geoinformatics - graduate level.

The launch of the Faculty of Geoengineering and Environmental Protection meets the rising demand for expertise in geospatial data, measurement technologies, and environmental solutions across maritime, land, and digital sectors. The new faculty will serve as a hub for developing skilled professionals and driving interdisciplinary research at the forefront of geoengineering and environmental protection.
