Maritime University has been listed among those recommended to sign the Grant Agreement in ACTION 3.1 INFRASTRUCTURE OF INFORMATION SOCIETY under the European Regional Development Fund with the highest amount of funding of all Szczecin universities.
The project entitled “Maritime tales - the creation of technical infrastructure of public wireless networks and publicly available Internet Access Points” is to provide for:
- Creation of technical facilities to run an open, publicly available Internet access points using WiFi wireless networking , so-called. Hotspot. The coverage will be available to the public spaces of all buildings in the Maritime University of Szczecin and Swinoujscie. Additionally, the network will cover the area directly adjacent to the college buildings.
- Establishment of Public Internet Access Points in the form of so-called. Multimedia kiosks or stand-alone Internet-connected computer stations available for all of the following locations:
- Main Buildin;, ul. Wały Chrobrego 1-2, Szczecin;
- Faculty of Marine Engineering, ul. Podgórna 51, Szczecin;
- Student Hostel “Pasat”; ul. Starzyńskiego 9; Szczecin;
- Maritime Rescue Training Centre; ul. Ludowa 8 (Dębogórska); Szczecin;
- Educational facility building; ul. H. Pobożnego 11, Szczecin;
- Faculty of Navigation; ul. Żołnierska 46, Szczecin;
- Maritime Training Centre and House of Creative Work, ul. Komandorska 5, 5a; Swinoujscie;
- Maritime Officers’ Training Center; ul. Szczerbcowa 4; Szczecin;
In addition, Public Internet Access Points adapted for use by disabled persons are expected to be created in the following locations:
Faculty of Marine Engineering; ul. Podgórna 51, Szczecin;
Maritime Officers’ Training Center; ul. Szczerbcowa 4; Szczecin;
The work on the project is to be commenced soon after the signing of the Agreement and is due to be completed in 2013.
