On 20th February 2018, the Training Centre of the Maritime University in Kołobrzeg hosted the participants of the 4th meeting of the Working Group for NSS 17 (previously - 20) - Smart Maritime Technologies.
The meeting summarised the activities and the objectives met within the scope of R&D projects related to the subject matter of NSS. There was also a discussion on current initiatives supporting innovations in the maritime sector and projects supporting investments in the shipyard sector in Poland. The subject of creating consortiums and cooperation in the sector as well as the developmental trends in the maritime economy were also analysed.
The National Smart Specialisations are newly defined subject areas with the highest scientific and economic potential. Currently, financial support from the EU funds - within the operational programmes for the years 2014-2020 - may be obtained by projects included in the areas within 17 National Smart Specialisations (NSS).
The NSS working groups are expert bodies associating specialists in a given area. The Maritime University of Szczecin, for the second time, hosted the participants of the meeting of the Group for Smart Maritime Technologies. Among the experts there are representatives of the University:
- the Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin, Wojciech Ślączka, PhD. Eng. Professor at MUS, Master Mariner (the Vice President of the Group),
- Piotr Wołejsza, PhD. Eng. from the Institute of Geoinformatics, President of Sup4Nav Sp. z o.o., representing a spin-out of the Maritime University of Szczecin,
- Rafał Malujda, the patent attorney of MUS and a specialist of the Centre for Transfer of Maritime Technologies, representing the ICT West Pomerania Cluster Association.
