On September 19, 2013 in Cotonou, Benin, was held a formal launch of the CRIMGO project - Critical Maritime Routes Gulf of Guinea funded by the Instrument for Stability (IfS), the European Union.
The aim of the project is to support efforts to improve maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea by reducing acts of piracy and sea robbery in the area of the bay. The project includes assistance to the following countries: Benin, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe and Togo.
The ceremony was attended by Foreign Ministers of the countries included in the project, the Ambassador of the European Union in Benin, director of the Instrument for Stability (IfS) of the European Commission, the Head of safety, IMO.
Maritime University of Szczecin, which is a partner in the project, was represented by Janusz Uriasz, Associate Prof., MUS.
Within the project MUS experts will conduct courses and specialized trainings in the above countries.
