Professor Aleksander Walczak was awarded an Honoris Causa degree in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the development of Polish higher maritime education institutions
The ceremony took place on Monday, 30 May 2022 in MUS Senate Hall.

The main speech was given by the Dean of the Faculty of Navigation PhD, Eng., Chief Officer, Paweł Zalewski, MUS Professor.
I admire his incredible creativity and enthusiasm along with his rational but humanistic approach and his kindness to people - stressed Dean Zalewski. Professor Aleksander Walczak is an excellent educator of generations of Polish navigators, co-founder of Polish maritime education, and supporter of traditional values in work at sea and the implementation of new technological solutions - he added.
Although the Laureate was not present, due to health issues, the guests had the opportunity to listen to his lecture recorded a few weeks ago.
I have been very privileged to be a part of this history. I thank you all for that. I wish you further anniversaries, more academic satisfaction and a long list of honorary doctorates, such as myself! - Professor joked at the conclusion of his lecture.
