MUS has been awarded the title of '“The University in the Microsoft Cloud”'. MUS Rector received the prestigious award and a letter of congratulations on the 5th of July.
The award ceremony was attended by Microsoft representatives: Barbara Michalska - Director of Polish Education Market, Bartosz Białek - Modern Work Solution Specialist and MUS authorities with MUS Rector Wojciech Ślączka.
According to estimates, 77% of students will need new technological skills by 2030. 'The University in the Microsoft Cloud' is a programme for higher education leaders who are models of using Microsoft technologies and tools in their daily activities. Among that elite group was the Maritime University of Szczecin, which, as director Barbara Michalska, emphasised:
uses widely the latest digital technologies in management, teaching and research. It is an award for the university of the future, for which the priority is not only education but above all digital security of facilities, students and learning. Such a university attracts the best candidates. It is extremely important that students graduate from the university with hands-on knowledge and experience. Modern tools are equally important in administration and research.
The letter of congratulations received by MUS Rector included the following:
Your achievements, which have contributed to the excellent application of Microsoft tools and technologies in scientific, administrative and research activities, allow us to call MUS a university of the future. The digital tools you provide young people with will enable them to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to fulfil their potential, follow their passions and spread their wings (...) Behind the title of " The University in the Microsoft Cloud" is the work, passion and commitment of the university's lecturers and administrative staff, for whom enhancing digital competence and using modern tools in education is a responsibility and a mission.
The Maritime University of Szczecin is ahead of other Polish higher education institutions in terms of digitalization. I recognize the problem of ensuring digital security, and this issue will be a priority for us as we move forward. Our cooperation with Microsoft continues to develop successfully and can take us to the next level, which includes the certification.
- said MUS Rector Wojciech Ślączka, during a meeting with Microsoft delegates.
As part of developing the relationship, the Rector was invited to the company's headquarters in Warsaw. Only 12 universities in Poland, apart from the MUS can boast of the "University in the Microsoft Cloud" title.
