On January 11, 2016, Director of the Institute of Marine Technologies Janusz Uriasz PhD. Eng., professor of the Maritime University was appointed a member of the Polish Accreditation Committee (PAK) for the 2016-2019 period.
The nomination was awarded by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jaroslaw Gowin.
The Polish Accreditation Committee is an independent institution, acting within the framework of the higher education system in Poland, to improve the quality of education. The primary objective of the Committee is to assist Polish public and private universities in achieving the quality standards set out for higher education and improving the quality of education.

Professor Janusz Uriasz was also elected a chairman of the Technical Science Team of the Polish Accreditation Committee. This team is responsible for improving the quality of education in all fields of teaching within technical sciences.
