On 1-5 February 2016 in London, a third meeting of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Sub-committee for Human Factor, Training and Watch-keeping Duties (HTW) took place. The session of the Sub-committee was attended by Prof. Janusz Uriasz, a representative of Poland, and the director of the Institute of Marine Technologies of the Faculty of Navigation at the Maritime University of Szczecin.
During the meeting, selected model courses and training courses were updated, the possibility of a comprehensive review of the STCW - F convention (fishermen training) was debated along with the issues of human factor, guidelines on fatigue, safety on passenger ships, and the guidelines on implementation of amendments to the STCW Convention in Manila in 2010.
During the session the Polish delegation held a meeting with the General Secretary of the IMO - Mr. Lim Kitack.
Mr. Ban Ki – Moon, the UN General Secretary, attended the session of the HTW Sub-committee as an honorary guest.
