On5-9.03.2013 Maritime University of Szczecin participated in the most important international fair of information technology and digital industry, CeBIT 2013 in Hanover.

The Fair was opened by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. In Hanover there were presented approximately 4,000 companies, institutions, research centers, technical schools from all over the world.

A team of researchers of the Faculty of Navigation, MUS, supervised by Professor Zbigniew Pietrzykowski, has presentedNAVDEC - navigational system for decision support on board, an innovative project selected by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as one of the six projects presented at the Polish stand.

This is a special prestige because Polandwas a strategic partner of this year’s CeBIT

NAVDECis the world’s first navigation tool that, in addition to information functions, performs tasks typical for decision support systems. NAVDEC is to observe the ship and her surroundings and record information about the navigational situation, which givesbasis for its identification and evaluation and sets out the proposed solutions, ensuring safe navigation. Currently there are ongoing efforts concerning its commercial implementation.
