Since March this year Maritime University of Szczecin (MUS) participate on International Research Project ESABALTEnhanced Situational Awareness to Improve Maritime Safety in the Baltic. The project is performed under the EU Baltic Sea Research and Development Programme (BONUS).
The project coordinator is FGI. In the project participate also companies FURUNO Finland and SSPA Sweden. The leader of MUS team is prof. Zbigniew Pietrzykowski.
The overall objective of ESABALT is to assess the feasibility of providing an enhanced situational awareness solution for all ships operating in the Baltic, including real-time maritime traffic monitoring and a marine environment observation system relevant for maritime transportation and accident prevention.
The Kick-off meeting was held in FGI, Masala near Helsinki on March 20th. In the meeting participated researchers Zbigniew Pietrzykowski and Paweł Banaś from Faculty of Navigation.
