The Maritime Rescue Training Centre does not lower the speed of work on the days before public holidays and acts dynamically towards meeting the demands of its customers. On Good Friday 03.04.2015 until late evening hours, the Centre carried out trainings which required the use of specialist equipment.
A crane and a basket lift were brought to the area of the Maritime Rescue Training Centre. The crane was used during the Banksman (hook-signal) course. The participants of the training gained knowledge of proper communication with a crane operator. They learned various types of slings and how to select them.
The basket lift, on the other hand, was used during the second course which aimed at checking the predispositions to work on height of people planning to work in the area of renewable energy. Almost 30-metre height was supposed to verify whether the people taking part in the training are able to fight their fear and perform the necessary activities in order to carry out a correct “descent”. The main tasks of the Centre included, first of all, assuring the safety for course participants and trainers. Fortunately, all people taking part in this exercise demonstrated proper preparation and tackled the task successfully. Climbing a rope with the use of hands and legs turned out to be a slightly harder exercise. It used the steel construction of a free-fall boat in order to check the efficiency of course participants.
In connection with successful completion of the course, the company sending the participants to the training decided to send them to another specialist training that enables work in rope access.
With greeting from the height of 30 metres from the Director of the Maritime Rescue Training Centre for other managers of the Maritime University units.
