The Maritime University of Szczecin participated in the call for projects launched by NCBiR (National Centre for Research and Development) for Priority 4 of the Operational Programme for Human Capital, co-financed from the European Social Fund.
In response to the call, 196 project applications were submitted, whereof 76 obtained positive assessment results. Only 24 project applications, however, were granted financial support with regard to all available funds thus being allocated and distributed. The application by MUS i.e. the project “Success of an IT student through internships” was ranked 11th. The budget allocated to the project amounted to PLN 600,000 which allowed offering all years of IT students with financial support from the EU.
The project aims at organising 3-month paid internships outside Poland. The students may also obtain internship grants of almost PLN 5,000 per month. Furthermore, individual intern supervisors will be provided with financial support. Subsequent project activity is participation in the course on “Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices”, licensed by CISCO. The course will be concluded with an examination which may be retaken on request. CISCO certificates are the most recognisable certificates, desired by employers from the IT sector in the field of network technologies. An exquisite supplement to the already obtained knowledge will be a possibility to further exploration of the field during a course on “Designing and Deploying Server and Storage Solutions”, licensed by HP.
Budget allocation granted to the project will enable our students to acquire experience and skills corresponding to the needs of the labour market. It will increase their employability with prominent companies from the IT sector.
