22-23.11.2012, in Brussels the annual international conference e-Maritime Annual Conference 2012: Connecting the maritime world - towards 2020, took place. The conference was dedicated to the concept of e-Sea, developed by the EU, as well as the wider use of advanced IT and ICT technologies in the maritime countries, EU members. The main objective of the concept of e-Sea is to stimulate and support the search for effective solutions to cooperation, interoperability and effectiveness of transport stakeholders in the maritime area.
The conference was attended by over 260 participants, including representatives of the European Commission, national administrations, organizations and associations and European maritime companies from the EU as well as institutions and companies outside the EU.
The conference enabled the exchange of information on problems and needs in the search for new solutions based on modern IT and ICT technologies, including services and systems in the maritime sector. Prof. Zbigniew Pietrzykowski, an employee of the Faculty of Navigation attended the conference, which resulted in establishing a number of contacts for wider participation of the Maritime University of Szczecin in research on the use of IT and CCT in shipping within the concept of e-Sea.
