This year the cooperation between the Maritime University of Szczecin and the Shipyard of Gdansk concerning student on-shore practice has been started.
From 15.08.-10.09 2010, 11 first year students of the Marine Engineering Faculty, with tutorial supervision of Piotr Treichel and Marcin Szczepanek, had an opportunity to learn about the processes of preparing and manufacturing hulls, painting and equipping vessels as well as get familiarized with the issues of production quality control. The practice enabled them to acquire basic knowledge on processing and preparation of the materials including cutting by gas burners and welding. The highlight of the apprenticeship was a visit to a newly constructed LNG vessel for transporting ethylene.
