Dynamic growth in student numbers and the need to ensure appropriate conditions for the conduct of the educational process drove significant investment and renovation in the Maritime University of Szczecin. In March 2011, we witnessed the opening of the European University Centre for LNG, now being is put into service as a complex of halls, laboratories and teaching facilities.
Modernization made by the Maritime University of Szczecin within the period from May 2011 to September 2011, consisted of the reconstruction of unused floor space, a total area of 927 m2 in the building of the Faculty of Economics and Transport Engineering, H. Pobożnego, adjustment of the entire object to the amended provisions of the fire protection. Moreover, it has been modernized to adapt classrooms and laboratories for use by students with disabilities. Thus, the building has ramps, driveways and elevators that give the possibility of a smooth move around the site by persons with disabilities. As a result of the reconstruction there were obtained 4 spacious and functional classrooms for a total of 290 seats and 2 modern computer rooms - each with 16 computer stations equipped with the highest quality structural network that allows the simultaneous use by students with specialized educational programs and simulation needed for teaching vocational subjects. Apart from that 7 new facilities needed for the growing academic staff were created.
Teaching rooms have been provided with modern ventilation system intake-exhaust heat recovery, which significantly improve the conditions of teaching, as well as reduce the costs of facility operation. Rooms are now equipped with modern audiovisual equipment and high quality tele-informatics installations allowing the use of modern solutions for the use of computer equipment. The application of modern information technology will support the educational process by the use of the E-learning. Sanitary facilities have also been the subject of renovations, which is to make them adapted for the disabled. The entire upgrade of teaching facilities performed in interesting colors, using modern materials is an investment of 1.808 million PLN.
Grand opening of the new teaching facilities at the Maritime University of Szczecin, will be held on Monday 10 October 2011 at 12.00 at H. Pobożnego 11(1st floor).
The opening will be combined with the presentation of the new premises.
