It is hardly possible to find words to describe what happened during the charity concert "Together with Ukraine", which took place on 20th March in Atlas Arena in Łódź, Poland.
It was certainly one of the most important concerts in the history of the Choir of the Maritime University of Szczecin, conducted by Sylwia Fabiańczyk-Makuch. The choir's performance was part of the largest charity event in Poland dedicated to helping refugees from war-torn Ukraine broadcasted live in 50 countries around the world.
This concert was simply an explosion of emotions: affection, compassion, a sense of unity, love, but also anger and misunderstanding - say the choir members. - It is no exaggeration to say that we left a piece of our soul on the Atlas Arena stage," they add.
The choir was invited to join the event by an extraordinary man. Wojtek Urbański, the event's music director, spotted the choir in a video for the song 'Strange is this world', created by the choir with the company Kamera Jazda in December 2021. The song took on additional profound meaning in the current tragic situation.
The choir also performed with other great artists who took part in this unique concert: Kayah, Stanisław Soyka, Daria Zawiałow, Natalia Przybysz, Igo, Anita Lipnicka, Natalia Szroeder, Maciej Musiałowski, Vito Bambino, the Dagadana band, Jerry Heil and Tina Karol.
All arrangements of choral parts were prepared by Przemysław Skuz, musician and chorister of the Maritime University of Szczecin Choir.
The concert was first and foremost a charity event - all the artists waived their royalties, and donations were raised during the event to help the people of Ukraine - in total over PLN 8 mln (EUR 1,7 mln) were collected, which were transferred to the Polish Humanitarian Action.

Exceptional performances for the cause
That is why during the concert we could hear an absolutely unique performance of Czesław Niemen's song arranged by Jacek Sykulski.
