The Baltic Sea region LNG cluster and the LNG Competence Centre were established in order to enhance international cooperation in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The agreements were signed on 26th of April during the conference “Go LNG – Building LNG competence and business partnership for the Baltic sea region”.
The BSR LNG Cluster is a business cooperation organisation which includes national parties from Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany and Poland. The parties united to strengthen and to speed up the further development of LNG innovations, LNG technologies and LNG infrastructure in Baltic Sea Region. “It is exciting and a lot of stakeholders to support”, project manager Charlotte Vinding, MDC, states when asked about the vast area and many companies that the BSR LNG Cluster is covering. “By teaming up the national LNG Clusters and Networks from all around the Baltic Sea, we are supporting more than 100 entities! But I believe that there is an advantage in promoting all of the knowledge and business potential as a “joint package” as together we are truly front runners when it comes to LNG use and development.
During the event, the BSR LNG Competence Centre was also established rallying 13 educational institutions from the Baltic Sea Region. Maritime University of Szczecin was represented by rector Wojciech Ślączka and dr Stefan Jankowski. “Together we are seeking to improve teaching in the field of LNG and to grow a critical mass of LNG technology specialists, which is essential for the further LNG technology development in the Baltic Sea Region” – explained Stefan Jankowski.
