The project entitled. ‘Launching the Baltic Fisheries Training Centre in Kolobrzeg, as a modern training tool’ was awarded the by monthly magazine ‘Business World’ in Economic Event 2012.

‘Pearl of Business’ awards and distinctions are awarded annually by the business magazine ‘Business World’. Winners are selected in two categories: business personality and business event. Chapter of the contest is formed by journalists, academics, and representatives of the economy world.

In 2013, the statuettes and prizes have been awarded for the ninth time. From more than a dozen entries submitted for the competition of economic development, three have been awarded, including the project of the MaritimeUniversity of Szczecin.

Its up-to-date standards, a significant impact on the development of the fisheries sector and new methods of training fishermen to enable the improvement of their skills so as to meet the requirements of the labor market. The award was collected by Professor Stanislaw Gucma, the Rector of the Maritime >University of >Szczecin.

Statuette ‘Pearl of Business 2012’ was awarded to Espol Ltd. for tackling digital exclusion in >Western Pomerania by providing broadband technology LTE.

The award ceremony and awards was held on 28 February 2013.

Creating OSRB in Kolobrzeg - a specialist teaching unit implementing modern methods of training for the fisheries sector is related to the preparation of our country to ratify the International Convention STCW on - fishing crew qualifications and the ways of confirming the qualifications.

The tasks carried out by the Baltic Fisheries Training Centre in Kolobrzeg contribute to improving the efficiency of the fisheries sector, the sustainable exploitation of living aquatic resources and aquaculture in terms of sustainable development and increase of the competitiveness of the Polish marine fisheries by higher standards of the level of the fisheries sector staff training.

The center was equipped with up-to-date equipment and teaching aids - including diagnosis of diesel engine simulator, navigation bridge simulator, including the fishing vessel with fishing monitoring simulator, RADAR / ARPA, ECDIS systems, engine room simulator, net workshops and many others

The Project is co-financed by the European Union under the European Fisheries Fund.
