On 9 December, in the Hall of Tradition, the award ceremony for the winners of the competition "The Maritime University - course for sustainable development" took place.
The meeting was hosted by the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Development, Janusz Uriasz, PhD, Eng., MUS Professor, who thanked the participants and highlighted the importance of the small steps towards SDG we take every day.
The event was attended online by Mr Jakub Budzyński, a representative of RWE Renewables, the competition sponsor.
During the meeting, participants presented the awarded projects.
The second place in this category was awarded to Mr Cezary Rynkun for his work, which deals with the subject of alerting the public in an emergency situation. The solutions for adapting cities and places to be safer for human life, health and work were presented.
The second prize in this category was awarded to the teamwork of the PR Department, which was presented by Mr Rafał Zaweracz, who explained how several ideas and pro-environmental measures in line with the SDG could reduce water and power consumption. Infrared sensor taps in restrooms, water meters in showers and solar panels on the roofs of students halls of residence were among the proposed solutions.
Third place was awarded to Mr Piotr Wołejsza for his work showing how to reduce the use of paper in administrative work.

Students category winners
Mr Antoni Keszka was awarded first prize in the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students category. He suggested in his work "Eco Academy" a solution for reducing the carbon footprint and the amount of single-use plastic waste by using drinking water dispensers in university buildings.The second place in this category was awarded to Mr Cezary Rynkun for his work, which deals with the subject of alerting the public in an emergency situation. Staff category winners
