Maritime University of Szczecin raised 5 million PLN from the National Center for Research and Development for the modernization of management systems. Thus already in 2014 it will be one of the most modern managed universities in Poland.
In November 2011, NCBiR announced a competition under Action 4.1.1 Human Capital Operational Program for university development. 206 universities from all over the country applied for the total of 150 million PLN, out of which were evaluated the merits of 186 higher education institutions. The competition was resolved on May 8, 2012 with the Grants given to 33 universities, among which the Maritime University of Szczecin occupied high 3rd ranking position in Poland with nearly five million PLN. No other universities of the West Pomeranian region have obtained funding.
Due to the European Union, at the University there will be implemented an integrated system consisting of 10 modules that will work closely with each other. As a result, most cases will be dealt with electronically which will definitely accelerate and improve the functioning of the university. But before that happens, an external consultancy will conduct a detailed audit of the processes of individual departments. Then, these processes will be mapped in a special computer program, simplified, and finally implemented in the integrated system. In addition to the implementation of the system, the project provides postgraduate studies and management training for MUS executives.
The project will begin in January 2013 and will last until the end of 2014
