On 08.11.2013, to commemorate the 95th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland, the 1st Shooting Tournament for the Cup of the Rector of the Maritime University of Szczecin, Professor Stanislaw Gucma, Master Mariner, was held.
The meeting started at 17.00 at the Delve shooting range with a short training in the design, operation and safe use of firearms.
The competition attended by research and teaching, administrative and technical staff of the Maritime university of Szczecin, including seven women, from the very beginning was accompanied by strong emotions.
Each contestant participating in the qualifications fired three test and five contest shots in the standing position with both hands or with the free hand, with a semi-automatic Glock 17/19, the distance of 25 meters, the shooting target Nt23p.
The panel of judges evaluated the top five bullet holes out of eight total shots.
The qualification score, ranging between 41-49 points, determined the top 15 players who competed in the finals. Then, in the contest remained the 9 most experienced shooters, in the next stage 6 of them. The final three players reached for trophies.
Unrivalled was Mr Andrzej Dreas with the result of the final 45/50 points.
Fierce was the fight for the second position between Vice Rector, Andrzej Bak and Edyta Świtalska, the head of the Technical department.
Eventually, it was Edyta Świtalska (42p) that won the second place, a statue of the shooter and the prestigious title of vice champion, Mr Rector came in the third place (33 p).
