The Maritime University has taken part in international cooperation for many years. The European programmes have a special role within this scope. Therefore, the Career Office of the Maritime University together with the Department of Maritime Issues and Work Placements organised for the first time INTERNATIONAL STAFF TRAINING WEEK, organised as a part of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility International Programme.

1st ERASMUS+ International Staff Training Week was held from 16 to 20 May 2016

The main theme of the meeting was: “Employment. Supporting Students and Graduates Employability – international best practices”.

The participants of the international meeting were representatives of universities from Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey and Georgia. They represented various administrative units. They were united by the willingness to improve their professional qualifications, exchange ideas and practices as well as by common need to learn organisational solutions related to functioning of analogical positions.

During the training, the participants were able to get acquainted with the best practices aimed at boosting employability of technical university students and graduates as well as find out about Polish culture.

As a part of training, the participants had an opportunity to hear talks given by e.g. Ewa Małecka - vocational adviser from the Professional Career Information and Planning Centre of the Provincial Labour Office, Marta Spychalska from LSJ HR Group recruitment agency, Marzena Zasińska-Igła from ICT West Pomerania Cluster and Magdalena Krawczak from Technopark Pomerania.

The guests also got acquainted with the functioning of the Maritime University, our educational system and university infrastructure. As a part of the training, they took part in discussion panels and study visits. During outdoor activities, they were made familiar with the elements of informal education shaping soft skills. There was also time for visiting the most interesting places in Szczecin.

We would like to thank all our partners for their willingness to share their practices and knowledge with us and other participants. We hope that new contacts will result in numerous opportunities for cooperation with other academic centres.
