On 1 October 2019, the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering was established at the Maritime University of Szczecin. The Faculty is based on the structure and achievements of the former Institute of Electrical Engineering and Ship Automation.
A new beginning based on previous achievements
The Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering (FMEE) staff is adjusted to the needs of the technical higher education and meets the requirements for conducting undergraduate courses.
The graduates of the Faculty are highly specialised engineers and they smoothly enter the professional job market.
Working on ships is the common choice for graduates, but they can start a professional career in onshore service companies in the electrical and automation industry.
The faculty staff research range
Our staff actively participate in research projects related to the application of modern power electronics systems in power systems of ships and floating objects.Research is being conducted on DC power distribution systems with the use of power electronic devices and generators with changing speeds.
Thermal and acoustic emission detection systems are implemented as diagnostic systems to monitor the operating state of semiconductor components.
The research work is conducted in simulation and laboratory modes and the results are published in recognized IEEE journals.
