The Faculty of Geoengineering and Environmental Protection at the Maritime University of Szczecin was established in 2025, but it is based on decades of experience from teams that have been setting standards in geodesy, hydrography, geoinformatics, environmental protection and management. It combines the tradition of reliable measurements with modern technologies. We work with hardware and software used daily in engineering, offshore, smart-city, and environmental projects. We teach responsibly, ensuring that graduates thrive from day one, regardless of whether they end up in the maritime industry, engineering, or modern spatial data analytics.
What do we do?
At the Faculty, we conduct research and projects in the areas of:
- engineering and industrial surveying
- hydrography and marine surveying
- geoinformatics, spatial data modeling, and artificial intelligence (AI) methods used in geospatial engineering
- environmental protection and monitoring of changes in the natural environment
- spatial analysis
- environmental remote sensing
- mobile cartography
- laser scanning, photogrammetry, and point cloud processing
- navigation and positioning systems (GNSS, INS, time sync)
- offshore technologies and research for the maritime economy.
Who do we educate?
We currently offer programs for:
- surveyors – with solid engineering training (Geodesy and Cartography, engineering studies)
- hydrographers – working at sea, in ports, and offshore
- geoinformaticians – specialists in geoinformatics systems, geodata modeling and processing, spatial analysis, and GIS programming
- environmental protection specialists – combining technical and natural knowledge (studies in preparation).
We focus on:
- practice and competencies that have real value in the workplace
- modern laboratories and industrial-grade equipment
- team-based projects, often in the field
- proximity to the industry - we collaborate with companies, the local government, and the offshore sector
- solving real problems, not virtual examples
- a friendly atmosphere.
Our Faculty is a place where technology, the environment, and modern spatial data meet daily. It’s also a place where studying and working are simply a pleasure.
