DATABASES ON THE MUS NETWORK


Databases on the MUS network are databases that can be used in all university buildings
(in all faculties, in the library, in the campus) or with remote access from home computers.

1. AccessEngineering

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
 
Multimedia database of McGraw-Hill publishing house. Suitable for researchers, engineers, teaching staff and students.

Provides information on issues in:
- mechanics,
- mechanical engineering,
- materials science,
- chemical engineering,
- electronics,
- aerospace technology,
- manufacturing,
- design,
- project management,
and operations management.


The database provides:
- textbooks,
- monographs,
- videos,
- interactive graphs,
- tables and scientific calculators.
 

2. EBSCOhost with a NEW at the MUS Library Energy & Power Source database


The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
 
EBSCO Publishing's databases have been available since 2010 under a national academic license.

The license covers a basic package of 15 databases, including 8 full-text databases containing academic journals from various publishers, books and other publications:
- Academic Search Complete,
- Business Source Complete,
- Energy & Power Source
- Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition,
- Health Source - Consumer Edition,
- Master File Premier,
- Newspaper Source,
- Regional Business News

and 7 bibliographic (abstract) databases:
- Agricola,
- ERIC,
- GreenFILE,
- Library Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA),
- MEDLINE,
- European Views of the Americas,
- Teacher Reference Center.
 
Energy & Power Source is a new at the MUS Library full-text database of energy and power industry-related content.

It provides top journals and magazines focused on:
- petroleum,
- natural gas,
- electric power,
- coal,
- nuclear power and renewable energy.

It also features benchmarks and best practices from top industry players worldwide.

3. IEEE Xplore

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
 
IEEE Xplore database contains publications in:
- computer science,
- electrical engineering,
- electronics,
and related disciplines.

IEEE Xplore contains IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) and IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) publications.

It provides access to over 3 million full-text journal articles and conference papers.

Database topics:
- aerospace,
- automotive engineering,
- biomedicine,
- earth sciences,
- nanotechnology,
- ocean engineering,
- robotics,
- wireless communications.

4. Knovel (Elsevier)

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access
 
Knovel provides a searchable database of:
- books,
- data sets,
- and reference sources in:
- science,
- technology,
- and engineering.

Knovel has data search feature that allows the researcher to find materials that meet specific parameters.

Productivity tools include interactive:
- charts,
- graphs,
- spreadsheets,
- and equation plotters.

Books can be browsed by clicking on the "Subject area". - all titles appear alphabetically - or carry out searches in "Search" or "Advanced Search".

Knovel has recently added two important reference databases to its resources:

1. Fluids Material Data Sheets - a new database containing properties of nearly 6,150 fluid materials such as lubricants (with 18 subcategories), coolants and solvents.

2. Ceramics Material Data Sheets - a new database containing the properties of 8,678 ceramic materials, including Ceramic, Aerogel, Boride Carbide, Ceramic Matrix Composite, Clay, Concrete, Glass, Glaze, Halide, High Temp Ceramic Resin, HydrideMachinable Ceramic, Nitride Oxide, Phosphide/Pnictide, Piezoelectric, Potting/Casting Ceramic, Slurry, Sulfide/Chalcogenide.

5. Science Direct (Elsevier)

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
 
 A full-text database containing Elsevier's collection of digital journals and books.

Elsevier e-journals have been made available since 2010 under a national academic licence, which has been extended to 2016.

Since mid-2015, some Elsevier books have also been available under the same licence.

The database currently offers access to 2290 journal titles and 2519 book titles in:
- chemistry,
- chemical engineering,
- physics,
- earth sciences,
- astronomy,
- mathematics,
- computer science,
- energy,
- economics,
- business and management,
- environmental protection, 
- biology,
- social sciences and others.

The database is available on the ICM server of the University of Warsaw.

6. Science on-line

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
 
The database includes:
- Web access through Highwire, the modern online platform for journals published by academic societies in the U.S.
- ​​access to full content, including 'peer-reviews' (Research Articles + Reports) and 'News' sections, not available in other databasesaccess to archive issues (full text since 1997 and abstracts since 6 October 1995)
- access to the full text of all articles cited or mentioned in Science, included in the Highwire collection (760 journals)
- enhanced search options across the entire journal content since 1996
- interactive system of linking articles, citations.
 
Resources provided free of charge:
- Science, Science Classic, Science Signalling, SAGE KE current and archived issue tables of contents
- Science, Science Classic, Science Signalling, SAGE KE, summaries and abstracts
- Science Supporting Online Material
- Science Technical Comments
- ScienceCareers.org with Next Wave and GrantsNet
- ScienceNOW stories published in the last 4 weeks.

7. Scopus (Elsevier)

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
 
Scopus is an Elsevier-produced interdisciplinary database of abstracts and citations from journals in the:
- mathematical and natural sciences,
- engineering,
- medicine and the humanities.

It comprises more than:
- 19,500 publications, including more than 18,500 peer-reviewed journals (including over 1,800 available in Open Access),
- more than 400 commerce-related publications,
- 300 book series,
- 250 conference reports.

The database contains 46 million bibliographic records, including 25 million citation records going back to 1996, 25 million patent records, and indexes 315 million scientific web pages. More than half of the journals in the Scopus database are from outside the US.

8. Springer

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
 
An international database dedicated to:
- engineering,
- medicine,
- science,
- humanities,
- mathematics,
- physics,
- chemistry,
- and astronomy.

The database allows you to search electronic versions of journals with online access for:
- abstracts,
- tables of contents,
- and full texts of articles with graphics in PDF format.

Browsing the books is also possible, including access to tables of contents and some chapters.
 

9. Taylor & Francis 

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access
 
Full-text journals database in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, mathematics and other sciences contained listed below:
- Engineering, Computing & Technology (156 journals)
- Geography, Planning, Urban & Environment (56 titles)
- Business, Management & Economics (89 titles)

10. Web of Science

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access 
Web of Science keeps track of the content of scientific:
- journals,
- books,
- and conference proceedings.

It allows you to find literature on a particular topic or author, checking citations, i.e. who, where, when and how many times a certain author's work has been cited.

Since 2018, you can also use the InCites tool on the Web of Science platform.
InCites is designed to analyse data contained in the SCIE, SSCI, A&HCI, JCR and ESI databases and allows you to:
- compare the scientific achievements of researchers and institutions,
- analyse journal usage at institutions,
- develop research strategies and can support the publication and administrative decisions.
 

11. Wiley Online Library

The database is available on the MUS network or with remote access
 
The Wiley-Blackwell database provides electronic versions of journals published by the Wiley-Blackwell publishing house.

The Wiley-Blackwell collection includes over 1600 titles of journals from the fields of:
- science,
- humanities,
- and social sciences.

The service includes:
- tables of contents of individual journal issues,
- abstracts,
- and full texts of articles.
